Karura Forest
FKF organizes a range of fascinating guided walking tours inside Karura led by our expert guides. The trained guides can provide a wealth of information on the flora and fauna in the forest as well as the geology, history, and culture. The two-hour tours must be booked in advance, and all start at the Karura Forest Gate A off Limuru Road.

All tours start at Karura Forest Gate-A (off Limuru Road). The recommended times for the Specialized Tours are below:
Birding
Morning Session: 0700hrs
Afternoon Session: 1400 hrs.
Vegetation
Morning Session: 0900hrs
Afternoon Session: 1400hrs
Wildlife
Morning Session: 0900hrs
Afternoon Session: 1400hrs
History/Culture
Morning Session: 1000hrs
Afternoon Session: 1400hrs
There are various categories of the Eco Tours outlined below:
General Tour
A two-hour tour within the forest explaining different features and activities, combining introductions to wildlife, vegetation, birding, etc. Various circuits are available.
Your enjoyment will be enhanced if you bring:
- The official Karura Forest Map (also available to download on the website) and Guidebook, available to buy at the gates
- A pair of binoculars, especially birders
- Walking clothes and sturdy walking shoes

There are different charges for the various tours in addition to payment for Forest Entry and Parking Fees.
